The Mystery Deepens

evil.jpg

Miami and Havana are completely on edge right now. Could this be the end – nearly half a century of oppression and isolation ? Only a week ago ( scroll down) I wrote about how great it would be when Cuba finally opens up. That day may be soon. However, the first days may not be an aquatic version of when the Berlin Wall fell. Probably – there will be a US Naval blockade around the island to prevent comings and goings – at least until the ground situation is assessed. SouthCom is our military command – the area of operations extends from Miami to Tierra del Fuego. There will be no occupation of the island as war between Miami and Havana seems unlikely – it will be more of a reunification.

Hurricane Chris Strengthening

According to weather.com Hurricane Chris is on its way to South Florida. Someone told me recently that Publix was filled up, gas stations were packed with patrons. Watch a video @ weather.com here to learn more about preparing for your best friend.

A friend told me that her insurance went from $1500 to $3000 in one year! Think twice about goughing your insurance company for unnecessary repairs — you will pay eventually. Hoping everyone is safe and hold onto your hats ..

Historic Miami Day

Yesterday was a truly eventful day that can only occur in Miami. The President was in town Sunday and Monday. At Versailles he addressed many local issues , including the importance of Free Trade and our labor shortage that can only be alleviated with more immigration – not less.

Then last night – great news, as mentioned below in Tom Falco’s post. Read the statement from Castro himself.

Partying in the streets

It was partying in the streets all night and I suspect all day today. Fidel Castro is on his way out after 47 years of tyranny. Go have a nice cafe Cubano at Versailles or La Carreta to celebrate. :)
