Nicky Hilton: And we care why?…

hilton-nicky03.jpegNicky Hilton–not Paris the fun sister, but Nicky the quiet one–is lending her name to a new condo/hotel venture in South Beach, to be called the “Nicky O, a Nicky Hilton Hotel.” The venture, a part-condo/part-hotel complex, is taking over the adjoining Breakwater and Edison Hotels; the revamped hotel is slated to open in November. Of course, these places never open on time, but it’s best to be optimistic.

It’s ironic that Nicky Hilton is entering the hotel industry–perhaps the only industry in which they could truly be taken seriously–but she’s going to have nothing to do with the actual hotel itself. Her name, including the “O” for her middle name Olivia, is just going to be slapped on the building. And subsequently, it will be slapped on the soaps and ashtrays and towels and everything else inside, no doubt.

Who is going to stay in this hotel? Furthermore, who is going to buy a ridiculously-priced South Beach condo with Nicky Hilton’s name on it? One would think that would cheapen the quality, honestly, but it seems there is a waiting list to buy one. Says Robert Falor, president of the Falor Cos, the Chicago company managing the project: “People want to be part of Hollywood and feel like they’re in the `in’ crowd.” How depressing. If Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen open a hotel, this city will be officially over.

Nikki is the “pretty ” one since she dyed her hair. In any event , the Strip has become rather tawdry in recent years – perhaps Nikky O will be an improvement over the current fratboy/package tourist/wannabe rapper crowd.
